Slotkin sworn in as U.S. congresswoman

There's a new U.S. congresswoman representing part of Mid-Michigan.

Elissa Slotkin was sworn in on Capitol Hill on Thursday, surrounded by family.

The Democrat represents Michigan's 8th district, which covers Ingham, Livingston, and part of Oakland County.

Slotkin beat Republican incumbent Mike Bishop in the November election.

The entire 116th Congress was sworn in Thursday.

Nancy Pelosi was elected speaker of the house.
