The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office is investigating an attempt to smuggle heroin into the county jail.
Deputies say someone waiting in the probation area Tuesday morning was possibly hiding heroin on his body.
When deputies approached the 24 year old, he told them his probation officer was going to put him behind bars. He said he had a serious heroin addiction and was worried about the detox period while he was in jail.
The man then took several packets of heroin out of his rectum.
He was arrested and held for a bond violation. Additional charges are expected.
