A man who got into a fight with his girlfriend threatened to burn her house down, and then poured gasoline on the structure and lit it, according to law enforcement.
The Jackson County Office of the Sheriff reports around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to a residence in the 9000 block of Moscow Road in Hanover Township.
They responded to the house with multiple fire departments for the fire that was reportedly intentionally set.
The female resident, who is the only occupant of the house, was able to exit the home without any injuries, the sheriff’s office reports.
The 48-year-old suspect was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail.
Charges are being requested from the prosecutor’s office for arson and potentially other charges, pending the investigation.
Hanover Township Fire and several area fire departments battled the blaze for several hours, the sheriff’s office says. The structure appears to be a complete loss.
Assisting the sheriff’s office is the Michigan State Police.
