Several hurt in New Year's Day accident in Lansing

LANSING, Mich. — The Lansing Police Department is investigating an accident that happened not far from the State Capitol building.

Officers were dispatched to the scene of the car versus tree crash at the intersection of South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and West Kalamazoo Street around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Five people were in the car at the time of the crash but all of them sustained minor injuries, police said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
