UPDATE: Rollover accident shut down US-127 for hours

UPDATE (6:26 p.m.)

A tractor-trailer flipped Thursday afternoon, closing southbound lanes of I-127 between I-496 and Trowbridge for much of the afternoon.

It took crews nearly five hours to clear the wreckage and clean diesel fuel that spilled onto the highway.

There were several other minor accidents in the vicinity of the crash.

All was cleared and the road was reopened at 6 p.m.

The accident is still under investigation.


The southbound lanes of US-127 between I-496 and Trowbridge will be closed due to an accident in East Lansing.

Traffic is backed up at this time.

Police are advising drivers to slow down and be careful as there are numerous accidents along the I-496 and US-127 corridors.
