JACKSON, Mich. — Seven high school students with special needs from the Lyle Torrant Center were honored for the work they have done with Consumers Energy.
The students spent a year working at Consumers Energy by taking part in a program called, Project Search.
The program is a new partnership with the Jackson County Intermediate School District to help guide students with disabilities from school to work through real on-the-job experience.
Consumers Energy created an on-site classroom along with a teacher and job coach from the Intermediate School District to elevate their work and independent living skills.
The ceremony took place Friday morning at the Consumer's Energy Parnall Building auditorium in Jackson.
