What does this settlement for MSU?

MSU Interim President John Engler has said the university might have to raise tuition to pay for it.

Most of the students FOX 47's Marcus Dash talked with were glad Nassar's survivors will be getting compensated, but there was some hesitation when they were asked about the possibility of their tuition going up because of this settlement.

"Someone else has done something and all the students are gonna pay for it doesn't much make of sense," Siddharth Shukla.

"Higher up people covering everything up so why do we have to pay for it? It's kinda ridiculous," said Mateo Acosta.

The idea of paying more in tuition to pay the Nassar survivor settlements is not sitting well with some students.

Ph.D. Student, Siddarth Shukla says MSU will lose out on some of the countries brightest students if that happens.

"It's gonna be a loss to the university in terms of the students as well as the research," said Shukla.

However, some students FOX 47 talked with feel that paying a little more tuition is small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, compared to what the survivors endured at the hands of Larry Nassar.

"It is really unfortunate but for everyone that he caused pain to, its really just a small price to pay," said Tyler Gardener.

Several students Dash talked with said that whatever happens with their tuition, they'll fight for change at the university to keep something like this from happening again.
