Set up for the Common Ground Music Festival has begun

LANSING, Mich. — The Common Ground Music Festival is coming to town this weekend and set up for the four-day event has begun.

Trucks carrying the stages, tents and booths have started to make their way in.

The event starts Thursday with acts like Brandi Carlile and City and Colour.

Several roads and closures have already been put into place.

Here are the roads that will be impacted starting on Monday, June 24 and lasting until Tuesday, July 2:

Grand Avenue between Shiawassee Street and Saginaw Street, and the northern most westbound lane on Shiawassee Street between Grand Avenue and Cedar Street will be closed for the duration of the event beginning around 7 a.m Monday.

The southern most bike and pedestrian travel lane on Saginaw Street between Washington Avenue and Grand Avenue's will be reduced beginning at 7 a.m. Monday.

Grand Avenue will be reduced to two lanes between Ionia Street and Shiawassee Street beginning at 7 a.m. Monday. Northbound Grand River traffic will be allowed to travel either east or west onto Shiawassee Street.

Here are detour routes to bypass the road closures:

Northbound Grand Avenue traffic should travel west on Ionia Street or Shiawassee Street to Walnut Street, north on Walnut Street to Saginaw Street and then east on Saginaw Street to return to Grand Avenue.

Those who use the Lansing Community College parking structure located on Grand Avenue will follow Saginaw Street east to Grand Avenue and then south on Grand Avenue in the designated travel lane to access the entrance into the parking structure.

Local access will be maintained to all area businesses.
