Two different accidents in a short span of time caused major traffic delays on westbound I-96 at Okemos road on Monday, February 29, 2016.
Emergency crews responded to a single-car accident near the Okemos Road exit on I-96 shortly after 11:30 AM.
A short time later, another accident involving a semi truck and three cars occurred at the nearby rest stop. Three people in that accident were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The Ingham County Sheriff's Department says the second accident was caused by people who were distracted by the first accident scene, causing a chain reaction rear-end crash.
There is no information available at this time about the condition of the driver in the first accident.
