You may be getting some extra help staying safe on some Michigan roads.
There are some new signs with sensors on them to warn drivers when to be extra careful of road conditions.
The State Department of Transportation has installed what it calls, active warning systems in a few locations with bridges, curves, or both.
Each road location has sensors monitoring pavement conditions.
If slippery conditions are likely or present the sensor sends a signal to the road signs.
It either activates a single flashing light above them or a series of lights in the signs' borders.
Early information suggests the signs could be helping improve safety.
