Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow has announced legislation aimed at encouraging businesses to bring jobs back to the United States.
She reintroduced the Bring Jobs Home Act Monday in Detroit.
This act will give incentives to companies to come back or move to the United States by giving tax breaks. On the other side, the act would also discourage companies to move outside of the U.S.
Stabenow first introduced the legislation back in 2012, but Senate Republicans have repeatedly voted against it.
“We need to be exporting our products, not our jobs,” said Senator Stabenow. “It’s outrageous to ask hard-working Americans and communities to foot the bill for companies that move jobs overseas. If President Trump and Republicans in Congress are serious about bringing jobs back home, they should work with me to pass my legislation right now.”
It is up to the Senate and the Republicans to see if they want to take it up on the floor.
