LANSING, Mich. — Senator Debbie Stabenow is being honored for her efforts in the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill.

The senior senator from Michigan co-authored and was a leading supporter of the legislation.

The latest Farm Bill passed by Congress was important for Michigan farmers.

The legislation supports Michigan agriculture.

That support is expected to grow jobs by creating economic certainty for not only farmers and farm workers, but equipment manufacturers, food processors, and other businesses in the state.

Dr. Phil Knight, the executive director of the Food Bank of Michigan, and the President and CEO of Gleaners Community Food Bank, Gerry Brisson, as well Ken Nobis of Dairy Farms are expected to speak at the event.

They will be joined by a number of regional food banks and various state legislators.

The program begins at 5 p.m. in the Community Room of the Lansing Armory.
