UPDATE - Hillsdale County Sheriffs department says Jace Landon Lyon has been found safe, and is in good health.
------------------------
"We've been through the woods,” Hillsdale County Sheriff Tim Parker said. “We've been through swamps we've been through rivers."
Search parties tirelessly looking for Jace Landon Lyon, a 9-year-old boy.
His mother says she last talked to him Wednesday night after she called the house to talk to him.
What's unusual about this search is the sheriff says Jace has run away before and he isn't like most 9-year-olds.
"He's smarter than the average 9-year-old when it comes to how he deals with things,' Sheriff Parker said. “I can't go into great details about his personality and what has occurred in his past, but again the thing is for him he has run away, he's fled in an effort to get away from situations that has occurred in his life."
Not far from Jace's house you'll find swamps, woods and marshes. Places anybody could get lost in. That's one of the reasons detectives have been going all out in order to find him.
The latest search has deputies using bloodhounds, which the sheriff says track differently from the standard K9 units. They've also had help from the FBI, the DNR has used kayaks and ATVs to help find Jace. The sheriff's department used their mounted units, covering the rural areas around Jace's home. And the sheriff himself even searched using a helicopter.
"I can tell you from a helicopter standpoint we had a great view and a winter time scheme of being able to see down through the woods," Sheriff Parker said.
But no clues so far. The sheriff's department is interviewing family members to find out where Jace could've gone. In the meantime they're asking everyone to keep a lookout.
"We want them to be searching anything that someone may get into in an effort to hide," Sheriff Parker said.
The sheriff says when somebody runs away and sees police looking for them, it can scare them into hiding even deeper.
Jace was last seen wearing a bright blue jacket with neon stripes on it. He was wearing black plants.
He has light brown hair, brown eyes and a small scar on the left side of his head with missing hair.
