School put on lockdown after roof mistaken as KKK robe

Posted

A hoax put MacDonald Middle School in East Lansing on lockdown yesterday.

According to the Lansing State Journal, police were called around 1:30 p.m. after a student snapped a picture of what they thought was someone dressed in a KKK robe walking in the woods near that school.

Officers asked school administrators to put the school under "shelter in place" status.

When the officers arrived, they discovered the photo actually just showed the roof of a nearby home. Police say the roof was white and had some resemblance to a person wearing a robe.

The lockdown order was then lifted.
