The Michigan Treasury Department is warning of a scam in which people are called and asked to immediately pay income taxes or face consequence.
Scammers apparently cloned a Grand Rapids-area Treasury phone number.
Scammers are demanding payment with a prepaid debit card or wire transfer.
The department says it doesn't demand immediate payment of taxes without first mailing a letter.
