ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WSYM) - Football fans couldn't wait for this year's rivalry game between Michigan and Michigan State, as Ann Arbor filled with a sea of maize and blue and, green and white.
However, this game might have been a little different for some fans because of the recent threats MSU athletics has received.
FOX 47 News' Alani Letang spent today in Ann Arbor talking with some fans about some safety concerns they might have.
And today several fans said the threats didn't scare them from coming to the Big House.
Jermiah Hartfields is a Wolverine fan and he said MSU doesn't deserve threats and suggest people instead take that energy and serve it up in the game, "I think we should just beat them out on the field, and let us talk on the field" said Jermiah Hartfields.
In addition to the threats, a number of fans tell us that in light of Las Vegas's recent event, they shouldn't be scared to go to big events. Brett Askin is a Michigan fan from Toronto, Ontario who said that "crazy stuff happens, it is what it is." Askin isn't the only fan who isn't shying away from big events and mass crowds, Chris Khraizat, a State fan, also agrees. Khraizat said that although he is sadden by what happened in Vegas, "we are not going to let these events change the way we live our lives, but it was very unfortunate."
Fans today said they are fortunate for their men in blue and the protection they provide. Ann Arbor police were seen stationed on each corner of the stadium as they kept a close eye on everyone's safety. But fans said they are not worried at all, just focused on the big game and a big win for the team of their choosing.
