Calling all Santa's who like to party and give back...The Grid in Old Town in Lansing is hosting SantaCon.
SantaCon is an event happening across the nation in hundreds of cities. It started in San Francisco in 1994. It's being called a unique but unorthodox event.
It takes place in Lansing on December 11 from 3 - 5 p.m. at the Grid Arcade and Bar at 226 E. Grand River.
SantaCon is a social event, intended for those over 21 years of age, and you must wear a full Santa suit.
Then the Santas gather and "bar hop" together. As they walk downtown they will sing carols, hand out candy canes, and pose for pictures.
The Grid Arcade and Bar kicks off the event and is the first stop of six.
Owner Corey Montie said this about the event, "I've been participating in SantaCon for nearly 15 years and is somewhat of a holiday tradition for me now. I've helped launch SantaCon events in other cities and am excited to bring it to my hometown."
Those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated.
Each venue that the Santas stop at will also donate $1 from each drink sale to support Lansing Food Banks.
