Roads slippery, drivers take more care

Posted

As soon as the snow falls, the Ingham County Road Department gets to work. "Our whole crew, 39 trucks, is out salting, where necessary," Bill Conklin of the department said.

They salt all roads in the county except the highways so they need lots and lots of salt. "We go through about 15 thousand tons a year," Conklin said.

I asked drivers at a gas station about some of the worst driving they have seen this week. "I was in East Lansing, it was a nightmare. I don't know if people are just not from Michigan they don't know, but it was awful.," Jacob Moccia said. "They suck."

"The worst driving I've seen is this guy flying past me on the shoulder," Christopher Spencer said. "There was so much snow on the road, he just had to get by, so he threw his car into four wheel drive and rode in the shoulder."
