Road Commission ignores pothole for 2 years

Posted

Ever wonder what happens to a pothole if it just gets ignored?

Drivers say one in Oakland county has been allowed to grow, unchecked, for two years.

It was already huge two weeks ago and now it's causing Devon Brook Drive, off of Telegraph Road, to collapse. There's also a culvert there, making it an expensive problem to fix.

People who live nearby are frustrated road crews aren't repairing the hole. They say it started out as just an annoyance, by having orange barrels and netting in front of their homes. Now it's a complete road collapse and liability.

The Oakland County Road Commission says it needs approval from the State Department of Environmental Quality before it can fix the problem because of state regulations involving a protected waterway.

Right now no repair date has been set.
