Ritz Cracker Products recalled due to possible salmonella contamination

EAST HANOVER, NJ (WSYM) - Several Ritz Cracker products are being recalled nationwide due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Mondelēz Global LLC, the maker of Ritz Products, voluntarily announced the recall Saturday.

The recall includes certain Riz Cracker sandwiches and Ritz Bitz products that contain whey powder as an ingredient.

The company’s whey powder supplier recalled the ingredient due to salmonella concerns.

There have been no reports of illnesses.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms include infection include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
