Reward has been offered in suspicious vehicle fire

Hillsdale County, Somerset Township. On Jan. 11, 2017, the Michigan State Police (MSP) Jackson Post responded to a vehicle fire at Voorhies Road near Waldron Road in Hillsdale County.

Upon extinguishing the fire, a body was discovered in the burnt vehicle, which was later identified to be Tyler Herendeen, 30 years old from Jonesville, MI.

The medical examiner has labeled the manner of death as a homicide and the MSP Fire Investigation Unit has determined the cause of the vehicle fire as arson.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-44-ARSON. The Michigan Arson Prevention Committee offers a reward up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of anyone on arson-related charges.
