Retired judge will decide settlement payouts to Nassar survivors

Posted

A retired judge will determine how to dole out the $500 million settlement for more than 300 survivors of Larry Nassar's sexual abuse.

William Bettinelli is a former judge from Sonoma County, California who works for a mediation services firm that specializes in dispute resolution.

Survivors could get anywhere from $250,000 to 2.5 million. How much each survivor will get depends on a variety of a factors including whether they were a minor when they were assaulted by Nassar and how many times they saw him.

The Michigan State University Board of Trustees has to give final approval of that settlement. It's on the agenda for the meeting scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, June 22nd.
