LANSING, Mich. — Results from a AAA study are showing some concerns about automatic emergency braking systems.
The results showed some concerns regarding the brakes performing inconsistently, especially with pedestrians.
AAA evaluated the performance of four mid-size sedans with the automatic braking feature.
The systems were then challenged by real-world situations such as a vehicle turning right into the path of an adult and a child darting from between two cars.
Test results showed that the systems did not react at all--colliding with the pedestrians target every time--only avoiding a collision 40% of the time.
