LANSING, Mich. — The Humane Society says it will be several weeks before the 36 beagles rescued from laboratory testing become available for adoption.
Last month, FOX 47 News broke the story about the Humane Society of the United States' investigation into testings at the Charles River Laboratories in Mattawan, just southwest of Kalamazoo.
Beagles were used for a year-long test on the toxicity of a new fungicide.
The Humane Society said some of that lab's testings resulted in dogs being killed.
The week after that undercover video was released Corteva Agriscience, a division of Dow-Dupont-incorporated said the testing was ended after regulators from Brazil stopped requiring it.
Corteva then ultimately announced it had reached an agreement with the Michigan Humane Society to re-home those dogs.
The Michigan Humane Society says the next step is to evaluate each of those 36 dogs to determine where they should go.
It says it will release a more precise timeline of when the beagles will be up for adoption in the future.
