Reptile Weekend returns to Binder Park Zoo on August 4th and 5th. Whether you’re a reptile enthusiast or simply have a curiosity about these fascinating creatures, you’re invited to experience one of the largest events of its kind in the state. It’s where visitors can see over 100 “guest” turtles, geckos, invertebrates, large snakes and others.
This collaborative event offers a rare and unique opportunity to experience critter encounters and keeper chats devoted to these often misunderstood classes of animals, to observe them up close, and in some cases, actually handle them. Knowledgeable reptile keepers will share fascinating facts, characteristics and habits of creatures that many people perceive as mysterious and elusive. Representatives from the Kalamazoo Nature Center will also be on hand to share bio-facts and information about native reptiles and ecosystems.
Reptile Weekend is a two-day event geared toward guests of all ages with the goal of dispelling the myths and fears that people often have about snakes, salamanders, frogs and others, to be replaced with respect and understanding of animals species that play important roles in the environment.
Reptile Weekend is a fun, family-oriented event at Binder Park Zoo that is included in the general admission price. Adults - $14.25, Senior citizens - $13.25, Children (ages 2 – 10) - $12.25, Children under age 2 are admitted free. Parking is free.
