LANSING, Mich. — The high price of prescription drugs has become such a problem that it's turned into common ground for President Trump and Democratic lawmakers.
Fox 47 caught up with Michigan Representative Elissa Slotkin and she told us she agrees with the president's idea to allow Americans to get prescription drugs imported from Canada--where the prices are much lower.
"Here in our district and in other parts of the state we have people who are paying more in health care and prescription drug prices per month than their mortgage. So we all worry and obsess about our most expensive bill. For a lot of people health care and prescription drugs is it," Slotkin said.
The Trump administration's plan would apply to prescription drugs already approved by the FDA.
Controlled substances would not be allowed.
Experts say it will take years to implement and there could be long, drawn-out court challenges.
