Lansing mayor, Andy Schor, announced on Friday plans to open a brewery in REO Town this year.
Ellison Brewery will move into the QD Building which is located at 1314 S. Washington Avenue.
The building turned 100 years old in 2017.
The brewery says they plan to incorporate the history of R.E. Olds, REO Town and Diamond REO into the design of both the interior and exterior of the building.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ellison Brewery to REO Town! This great brewery is a perfect addition to this growing corridor. We are excited to see REO Town expand further south on Washington Avenue and believe this is the next big step for this major business corridor and for this neighborhood," said Mayor Andy Schor.
Plans for the restaurant will include a full kitchen serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch and snacks, a 1st floor pub and patio and a 2nd floor special event space available for events. They say the brewery will include production, barrel aging and packaging of Ellison Beer, with plans for future bottle and can releases.
"Ellison is excited to be a part of the REO Town development and to bring another dynamic venue for Lansing to enjoy," said Ellison Brewery Owner Aaron Hanson.
Ellison was recently rated as one of the Top 50 Fastest Growing Breweries in the United States, one of only two from Michigan.
