Renowned artist, Nicolas V. Sanchez has established a scholarship and mentorship opportunity for aspiring art students at Lansing Community College (LCC).

Sanchez got his start as an art student at LCC and remembers fondly the support he received from the college’s Latino Student Network (LUCERO). The LUCERO program offers support services to assist in the recruitment, retention, graduation and transfer of LCC students.

After studying at LCC Sanchez went on to receive his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, MI and his Master of Fine Arts from the New York Academy of Art. His work has been featured in VOGUE Italia, Vanity Fair, New York Magazine, Drawing Magazine, and Fine Art Connoisseur.

Sanchez has been selected for artist residencies in the Dominican Republic, China, and Venice; with exhibitions in New York, China and Italy.

In an effort to support other talented and ambitious art students at LCC, Sanchez will award a $1,000 scholarship and provide an opportunity for the recipient to study under his tutelage.

The deadline to apply is 5pm, Friday, Aug. 31, 2018. Visit Sanchez Scholarship for more information, or contact Dan McKean, executive director, LCC Foundation (517) 483-1986.
