The East Lansing School Board voted late Monday to approve a budget revision that will allow it to re-open Red Cedar Elementary.
The decision allows the school district to reallocate more than 560,000 dollars in funds from this year's budget to the elementary school, which they hope to re-open in September.
Opponents of the board's decision say that reallocation of funds would pull too much from the district's other five elementary schools.
Red Cedar Elementary was closed in 2014 due to falling enrollment.
