LANSING, Mich. — A rally to prevent child abuse was held at the Capitol Thursday.
The rally was also to honor the late 6-year-old Christopher Pratt.
Police say he died of blunt force trauma and neglect.
The family of Pratt wants to spread awareness of child abuse prevention and make sure justice is served.
Last week, 29-year-old Jessica Bice was charged with murder and first degree child abuse in connection to the death of Pratt.
The family said they just want answers.
"I try to get somebody to call me back answer, still it's been a week I haven't heard from no one. So here we are, maybe they'll hear us now and I plan to be in all their offices again tomorrow morning, Monday morning till someone answers. We need answers," Monnie Smith, Pratt's cousin said.
The family wants to spread awareness of this issue and to make sure that this doesn't happen to any other family.
One solution the family suggested is for case workers or foster care services to check up children more frequently.
Bice is currently being held without bond and will be due back in court on July 25.
