A local church is working to teach people more about the way racism affects everyone.
The Faith Lutheran Church in Okemos hosted the anti-racism awareness and training event Saturday.
Linda Garner was a panelist at the church's November panel on racism. At Saturday's event, she told us she doesn't think racism will be eradicated in her lifetime, but said the faith community can come together to show people that within their "own circles of influence, we can make a difference."
Saturday's training was the follow-up to November's panel discussion, which was prompted the the Charleston church massacre last summer.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America had ties to both of the pastors who died as well as the shooter.
