Several people in a Mid-Michigan community are being treated for rabies after handling a rabid bat.
The bat was found on E. Grand River Avenue in Portland last Wednesday.
The Ionia County Health Department says several people handled it with bare hands and one person was bitten.
Everyone who was exposed to the bat is now being treated because rabies can be deadly.
