Target, Walmart and Amazon. They're all doing it. Now one convenience store company in Mid-Michigan is hopping on the home delivery trend.
Quality Dairy launched QD Quick Delivery Wednesday morning for their Lansing-area customers. It's home delivery for than 2,000 of the company's most popular products, including beer, ice cream, donuts and cookies, deli sandwiches, and more.
QD customers can start their order at QDQuickDelivery.com. They are partnering with Vroom Delivery who packs the items and then delivers them straight to a resident's doorstep.
QD Quick Delivery delivers within an eight-mile radius of the 500 E. Saginaw location, covering downtown Lansing, East Lansing, and Michigan State University.
Customers can expect delivery within two hours of placing orders, which must be at least $20.
"Who should know more about convenience than a convenience store? There really aren't too many convenience stores that have done this. QD wants to be on the cutting edge of this delivery service," said Thomas Buschert, CEO of Quality Dairy.
Home delivery appeals to single moms, people with disabilities, and people who just have busy schedules.
The service is largely a bet on the future. A recent Reuters poll showed three-quarters of online shoppers surveyed said they rarely or never buy groceries online.
QD Delivery is available Monday-Thursday 6 AM to 10 PM; Friday 6 AM to Midnight; Saturday 8 AM to Midnight; and Sunday 8 AM to 8 PM.
