Public invited to meeting on Okemos development project

People living in the Okemos area will have their chance Monday night to weigh in on plans to redevelopment part of downtown Okemos.

A local developer is moving forward on the $100 million projectreferred to the Village of Okemos.

Developer Will Randle's plan includes demolishing all of the buildings bordered by Ardmore Avenue, Okemos Road and Methodist and Clinton streets.

The plan calls for seven new buildings which would include places for shops, restaurants, and apartments to replace the torn down buildings.

Douglas J. Salon would also take up commercial space in the plan.

The Meridian Township Planning Commission is expected to vote on the plan during a Monday night meeting.

A "yes" vote would mean the Meridian Township Planning Commission recommends the township's Board of Trustees approve the project.

There will be public comment before the vote.

The meeting is happening at 7 p.m. in the township offices at 5151 Marsh Road.
