Noticed protestors in front construction site by the Frandor Shopping Center?
Over a dozen carpenters from the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights are picketing signs reading, "Kent Companies does not pay area standard wages and benefits on all projects."
Representative of the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters Tyler McCastle is leading the protest, saying that, "We believe that all carpenters should be paid an area standard wage and benefit on all the work they do, whether it is this nine story project or anything else."

p>Kent Companies is contracted for the concrete work of the $77 million Sky-Vue project, a nine-story apartment complex development taking place on Michigan Avenue, near the Frandor Shopping Center.
Kent Companiesis based out of Grand Rapids and has operations in Texas, Ohio and North Carolina.
"We want to get the message out and hopefully get the abuse to stop on the workers or carpenters," McCastle said.
The protestors have been picketing for the past six weeks.
