LANSING, Mich. — Protesters rallied outside of the Lansing headquarters for Blue Cross Blue Shield Friday morning.
The Democratic Socialists of America were demonstrating against Gov.-elect Gretchen Whitmer's appointment of the company's CEO Dan Leopp to her transition team.
The protesters feel Whitmer should focus more on expanding coverage instead of teaming up with an insurance giant.
"This is clearly a betrayal of not only the values Gretchen Whitmer ran on but also to the very people that voted her into office," said Sean Lehman, co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America's Detroit chapter.
The protestors demanded that Loepp step down from the transition team.
