SEBEWA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Ionia County prosecutor has decided a homeowner was justified when he shot and killed a man from Lansing on New Year's Day.

Justin Eddy broke into a couple's home on Musgrove Highway in Sebewa Township, near Portland, late that night. He told the homeowners he was being chased by someone. The owner grabbed a gun and went outside with Eddy to look around. They headed back onside after not finding anything. The homeowner told police Eddy then started acting erratically and assaulted him. He responded by shooting Eddy.

Police later found Eddy's truck parked at a business a couple miles away. The engine was running and the headlights were on. Eddy had stolen another truck and drove it to the couple's home where he was shot. Ionia County Sheriff Charlie Noll told wilx.com at the time investigators found evidence that Eddy had been drinking and using drugs.
