LANSING, Mich. — Private schools are dwindling in the State of Michigan.

According to the most recent data over 200 private schools have closed in the state since 2009.

Many of these schools have religious affiliations, but non-religious private schools have also seen a reduction in total numbers.

The closures have been linked to tuition cost increases, resulting in parents pulling their students out of private schools altogether.

Tuition for private schools can cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars to nearly $10,000 a year.
