LANSING, Mich. — A gofundme has been started to help pay for the rebuild of a storefront in Jackson that was destroyed by a fire.
The fire happened on Aug. 6, 2019 around 11 p.m. at the Power's Resale Store in Summit Township on Page Avenue.
Fox 47was on the scene the next morning and talked to the owner, Andy Powers.
He told us that the fire started in the back of the building and made its way into the store, and that there might have been an issue with the electrical panel.
Five fire departments responded to the blaze which was under control within an hour.
On Tuesday, after seeing the Facebook post about the gofundme, we went back to the scene and our reporter said she could "still smell the smoke still today."
It turns out that Powers had insurance for the contents of the store but not the building.
The gofundme post states how store fixtures have to be replaced, as well as rafters, the roof and part of the floor.
He is hoping that the money raised will let him rebuild the store, according to the post.
