LANSING, Mich. — There is a power outage that was affecting almost 4,000 Consumers Energy customers in Delhi Charter Township.
The Ingham County Sheriff's office posted about the outage at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23.
They said that traffic signals are out all along Holt Road between Cedar Street and Grovenburg.
And they are asking everyone in that area to treat all intersections without working traffic lights as a 4-way stop.
Consumers Energy is saying that the power should be restored by 7:45 p.m., that's three hours later than the first estimate.
You can check out the outage on the Consumers Energy outage map here.
But here's the twist to the story - the power outage was caused by a squirrel.
The fuzzy-tailed rodent got into some equipment at a substation in the Holt area, which caused the outage.
Terry DeDoes at Consumers Energy tells Fox 47 that the squirrel did die.
He added that he didn't know how the animal got into the equipment at the substation.
