The power has been restored in the Lansing area.
The Lansing Board of Water and Light has restored power to most of the greater Lansing area and the phone issues have been resolved.

The Lansing Board of Water and Light posted the following message to their Facebook page at 12:38 PM.
"The Eckert Substation tripped offline, resulting in a power outage for approximately 25,000 BWL customers in the downtown Lansing area. Crews are working to restore power, expected within 2 hours. Motorists should treat intersections with traffic signals as a 4-way stop. We apologize for any inconvenience this outage has caused."

Multiple power outages were reported in the Lansing Board of Water and Light's coverage area early Friday afternoon.
The cause and reach of the outage are not yet known. Calls to the BWL led to a recorded message saying the BWL is experiencing problems. The BWL Web site is down as well.
Posts on the BWL Facebook page report outages in Lansing's westside neighborhood near Kalamazoo and Jenison, Washington Square downtown, Baker Street and the Colonial Village neighborhood. East Lansing police say there are outages there as well.
