The Potterville Fire Department is not closed, they just don't have critical positions filled at the station.
Potterville City Manager, Aaron Sheridan, told FOX 47 News that they are "not releasing their equipment until they have had an opportunity to replace the chief and deputy chief."
At the end of business on Monday, the chief and deputy chief, along with one other volunteer, resigned from the Potterville Fire Department.
There were 11 members in the department, now there are 8.
Sheridan said that they are working to fill the positions as quickly as possible, but they have to make sure applicants are qualified and have proper training with the truck and the gear.
Potterville is being covered by Benton Township Fire Department at this time.
Benton Township Fire is a full time operation, including ambulance service.
