POTTERVILLE, Mich. (WSYM) - Potterville City Council voted to suspend it's city manager Thursday night following allegations made by an employee in a complaint.
Wanda Darrow has been suspended as Potterville city manager for 45 days with pay. City Council voted unanimously during it's regularly scheduled meeting.
Darrow tells FOX 47 News she has no idea what allegations were made against her. She says she was on grievance leave when presented with the resolution that suspended her as city manager.
"I did inquire to the mayor twice with no response or not able to provide me with that information," said Darrow. "Once I find out, I intend to fully cooperate with the investigation and hope that it will be as fair and as impartial as possible."
Darrow says the vote on her suspension was added to the agenda moments before the Thursday night meeting.
Mayor Bruce Kring said Friday he won't comment on the nature of the allegations due to an ongoing City Council investigation. Kring was not available for comment Saturday.
Deputy Mayor Jeff Bussard said Friday the complaint was filed by an employee less than a week ago and the administration is the taking allegations very seriously.
Darrow has been ordered to return all city-owned property. She has also been denied access to city facilities as a city manager, instead, she has no more access than the public does.
The Potterville city treasurer was approached by the mayor to serve as city manager but had declined.
Darrow has served as city manager in Potterville for over a decade.
A public meeting will be held to discuss Darrow's termination. A time and date have not been determined.
