EATON COUNTY, Mich. — Eastbound lanes of Interstate 96 will be closed over Grand River in Eaton County beginning Friday at 9 p.m.
I-96 will be closed between Lansing Road and M-99. Traffic will be detoured using Interstate 69 and US-127. Another alternative is to use Interstate 496 through downtown Lansing.
The closure comes as part of a $1.3 million project to perform critical preventative maintenance and repair work on the eastbound and westbound I-96 bridges over the Grand River and Billwood Highway in Eaton County, according to MDOT.
MDOT says this is the final phase of the project.
Eastbound I-96 is expected to reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19.
