Posted

A man is behind bars after police say he stole from several cars over the weekend.

Police say a homeowner stepped outside his house in the 800 block of North Elm Avenue when he saw footprints in the snow leading from car to car in the area. He followed the footprints which appeared to be from someone just walking around checking door handles of vehicles spanning from Pleasant Street, Orange Street, North Street, Ganson Street, Leroy Street, Gilbert Street, Homewild Avenue, and Burr Street.

Police followed the tracks to a house where they located a 19-year-old suspect and arrested him.

He's currently being held on three counts of violation of his conditional bond, a minor in possession of alcohol and marijuana. Charges are being sought to include larceny from the vehicles.

The suspect's name won't be released until he's arraigned.
