Police had an urgent message for drivers Friday morning.
They asked commuters to slow down and move over for emergency cars on the side of the road.
This comes one day after two Lansing Police Department vehicles were struck Thursday morning.
Both officers involved in the traffic incidents had to be transported to the hospital.
The two officers are expected to recover completely.
"The move over law" here in Michigan says drivers must move over and give space for first responders.
Officers such as Lt. Darren Green of the Michigan State Police say they sometimes fear for their lives while at the scene of an accident.
He told us, "We're out there doing our jobs to try and enforce the law, to get people to slow down, and for us to be at risk to be involved in a crash when we're out on a traffic stop or a the scene of a crash because of distracted or careless driving, to put us at more of a risk is concerning and scary."
You could be fined up to four-hundred dollars if you do not follow the law.
Or fined up to seventy-five hundred -- plus jail time -- if you hit and kill a first responder.
