Police suspect distracted driving as cause of fatal I-96 crash

The Ingham County Sheriff's Office says that they suspect distracted driving as being a reason for a deadly crash on westbound I-96 near Webberville. One person died at the scene, and two other people were injured in the crash.

Three cars were involved in the crash which happened on westbound I96 near M-52. One driver had a male driver and female passenger from Southfield/Romulus.

The second vehicle had a male driver and female passenger, both from Harrison Township. The man was taken to Sparrow for treatment of his injuries, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The third car had a female driver and passenger, both from Manistee. No one in the third car required an ambulance.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and the name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of the family.
