A years long search appears to be over after police say they believe they found the remains of a West Michigan woman who disappeared nearly a decade ago.
State Police say they found the remains believed to be of Venus Stewart in Kalamazoo County on Monday.
She disappeared in Colon Township back in 2010.
Her husband, Doug Stewart, was convicted of killing her in 2011 but her body hadn't been found.
State Police say that Stewart led officers to her remains buried in a deep grave in a wooded area on Monday.
Investigators say the remains would have never been found if he hadn't.
Tests are currently being done to confirm the identity.
