Woman stabbed to death in her Lansing Township home

LANSING, Mich. — Lansing police say a 55-year-old woman was stabbed in the neck inside the room she rents at a home in the 200 block of South Homer Street in Lansing Township.

The stabbing took place around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police were able to find and arrest the male suspect in a shed some blocks away along Clippert Street.

Police Chief Adam Kline says the Lansing Township Police have the suspect, a 42-year-old male in custody.

Witnesses tell police the suspect was an acquaintance of the woman, and that he was homeless.

Chief Kline says the victim identified the suspect by name before she died.

No word yet on when the suspect will be arraigned. Lansing Township's investigation continues.
