Police say a resident reported that a man dressed in all black and wearing a mask kicked down his front door during the night. When the homeowner went to grab a baseball bat, the suspect fled.

Jackson Police Department Deputy Chief Elmer Hitt said the break-in occurred just before 2 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Lansing Avenue.

The victim, a 57-year-old man, told responding officers that the suspect kicked in his door and said to get on the ground. The victim ran to the bedroom to grab a baseball bat, and the suspect then fled the scene.

The Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety’s K9 Unit assist with a search of the area, but the suspect was not located.

Hitt said that no items were taken from the residence, and no weapons were seen.
